Alien Containment Subnautica Do I Need to Feed

Pretty sure the water is yellow for... story reasons.

No, you don't need to feed them anything.

i don't know why your tank turns yellow but if i had to guess it's due to daytime and/or outside biome colours.. as far as i know there's no adverse condition inside ACU that would kill plants or critters. not even in energy outage.. if you're through subnautica at least once, i suggest taking advantage of mod called Advanced ACU which not only allows to set amount of fish inside (with expanded range above 10) BUT most importantly will feed any extra fish over the limit to bioreactor. !!! continuous feed for best source of energy anywhere, if you ask me..

The water doesn't turn yellow on its own. I would guess that effect is the light from a nearby creepvine plant. It tends to diffuse through the base walls.

Thanks for the info! And this is my first playthrough the game. I've been to the Aurora, and the one island with the big [redacted] on it, and the other island where the [redacted] survivors built their base. Not really sure what to do next to advance the story (no spoilers please). So I m building a base and then plan to explore farther and deeper after I build the [redacted] and the [redacted].

That's the best way to do it. If you're ever lost and have explored every signal the game has given you, read through your PDA for a bit. It has some helpful info that might give you a clue.

Bonus tip: if you sit in a chair, your hunger/thirst don't drain, so that makes for the perfect place to do some reading

ok no spoilers fair sure. do get interior/exterior growbeds, best internal plant is marblemelons for food and water. outside.. grow whatever you want. creep vines require certain depth to grow the fruits for lube. explore aurora and then go deeper.. game will point out where that is possible if you pay attention or explore.

Yup! I'm growing Marblemelons, Chinese Potato, and Lantern Fruit inside. I'm growing Creepvine, Blood Vine, and Acid Mushrooms outside. I've tried exploring behind the Aurora, but there's this giant monster that destroys my Seamoth, so I guess that's the game's way of telling me I'm going beyond the world border, bleh. But yes, I do plan to explore some of those deep caves as soon as I build the [redacted] and the [redacted].

Nah, that area can still be explored. Don't want to spoil anything for you, but just don't create a mental hurdle that the world ends there.

yea that's hard to .. i dunno,. how to assess that. lets say the back of aurora is kinda important to explore as you may find some scannable stuff, important, and that big noodle guy is .. yea doing what it's best at. living there. don't shine lights, stay low on the bottom, that should be safer than high above on surface in seamoth.. don't be afraid, save often, bring medkits, explore, try, be afraid but not scared to death. there are some good things to scan.

There is one particular blueprint that, in my experience, can only be completed by exploring near the Aurora's rear section. At least, I only found 1 of the 3 parts for it elsewhere myself. A couple of Let's Play's I've watched through found 2 elsewhere, but still needed to go behind the Aurora for the 3rd piece.

Reapers (screamy noodle boi) are drawn to both sound and light. If you are stationary with no lights, they have to swim literally right on top of you to see you. The second you move, or turn on the lights, you're in danger.

For where to go next: The island with the big [redacted] has a console giving vague locations for a couple of places to track down.

There is an entire world beneath the world we usually build our first base. And beneath that world there is another, then another... I wish you'd keep us posted on your progress, there are pretty amazing places waiting for you to discover them :)

Not really.
Just caves and corridors that are considerably smaller than the 'surface' world.
In fact, places like the mushroom cave and the ILZ are about the size of a single surface biome.

I didn't specify how big those worlds are. And anyway, LR is definitely not just caves and corridors. Even ILZ is not that small; it depends from which single surface biome you have in mind, there are huge difference from, for example, Dunes and Koosh.
